WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on Speaker Hastert's press conference on the Republican cover up of the inappropriate e-mails Mark Foley sent to an underage former House Page:

"Speaker Hastert again failed to answer the question that every mother and father in America is asking: how could Republican Leaders chose partisan politics over protecting children?
